About Amplify Science

A group of people meet to discuss strategies.

Our
Story

Amplify Science guides charities through the complex process of developing a strategy, and helps them convey their ambitions in an exciting, persuasive way. It was founded by Richard Hoey, an experienced charity leader and medical journalist, with the aim of helping charities increase the impact they can have on people’s lives, through dynamic, compelling strategies and effective communication.

Richard found from his own long experience as a charity director just how hard it was to find the time, and to secure the resources, to develop strategies effectively. He noticed in particular the challenges organisations can face in developing research strategies under pressure, when it can become difficult to ensure you are co-creating your strategic ideas with the communities you serve.

That’s where Amplify Science comes in. We support charities in creating incisive strategies which make real choices in partnership with their communities. We also help charities to communicate those choices persuasively. The aim is not only to focus a charity's efforts in a way that maximises impact, but also to craft a compelling narrative about what the charity is prioritising and why.

It is the combination of smart strategy and strong storytelling which can increase a charity’s impact – by galvanising support, influencing decision makers and increasing fundraising income.
